"Snickers" by Nikki Youngblood

I think my favorite part of this piece was the end when you describe going back to counting your candy after that random encounter with the men in black. It really captured your child voice. I wanted to know more. Can you describe your Little Mermaid costume? And what was your brother dressed as? Also, did you ever find out who those men were? I thought that your description on page 2 of what was going on was very clear and easy to visualize. "The last one turns around and looks at me, I crawl backwards on the floor, my feet slipping and stumbling over candy." I thought this was a good piece, very childlike in tone, just a little mysterious at times. Maybe just give us an even bigger snapshot of what was going on. You could maybe choose another title, too, to give it more of a Halloween feel or something. Yay Nikki!
