Writing True

Chapter 7--The Craft of Revision
Writing is about so much more than just talent and inspiration. Good writing takes revision. While everyone starts drafts differently and each piece is its own unique case, there are some basic concepts and tools that every writer can take into consideration when revising. Adding, cutting, weaving in information, and playing with voice are just a few ways that writers can make their drafts better. The point is to think about why you're telling that story, and adjust accordingly.

Some questions:
1. In creative nonfiction, do readers overall tend to prefer a more contemporary, less personal voice, or a more personal, emotional voice?
2. Is there a recommended method for getting out your first draft?
3. What's the best way to opposing points of view in a nonfiction piece, especially if your own voice is really biased on a topic?
