"Why Creative Nonfiction?"

"The line can blur because good writing--straight nonfiction and creative nonfiction--always attend to the craft of language, but creative nonfiction has that extra zing that comes from an engaging voice, a special way with language, a new slant" (page 6).

Creative nonfiction is a genre characterized by its attention to the truth as seen through the writer's eyes. It is the writer's own personal voice that distinguishes creative nonfiction from other forms of nonfiction writing. The authors give good examples of how to add your own personal touch to writing about any nonfiction subject.
